Child's Dental
What is Child's Dental Care?
Child’s dental care focuses on monitoring, protecting, and supporting your child’s oral health from baby teeth to adult smiles. Our dentists are experienced in treating children of all ages – from toddlers to teens – offering everything from check-ups and cleaning to fissure sealants, fluoride treatments, and early orthodontic advice.
We believe prevention is key. That’s why we encourage regular visits, so we can spot potential problems early and guide your child through a lifetime of healthy smiles.
At Alpha Dental Care, children’s dental care is available on both an NHS and private basis. NHS treatment is free for children under 18, or under 19 and in full-time education.
We offer different types of Childs Dental Services
NHS Children’s Dentistry

Our Dental Essentials scheme offers affordable private treatments, without NHS waiting times.
Your Childs first dental visit
Step 1: First visit
The NHS recommends a child’s first dental visit as soon as their first teeth come through, or by their first birthday. This is in line with advice from Public Health England and the British Society of Paediatric Dentistry (BSPD).
Step 2: Routine Check-ups
NHS dentists encourage regular check-ups, usually every 6 to 12 months, depending on the child’s risk of dental problems.
Step 3: Preventitive measure
Children are eligible for fluoride varnish applications twice a year from the age of 3 (or earlier if needed), and fissure sealants may be offered based on risk of decay.
Step 4: Oral Hygiene advice
Our dental teams routinely provide advice on toothbrushing, diet, and habit-breaking (like thumb-sucking or dummy use). Education and prevention are core parts of NHS child dental care.
Step 5: Ongoing support
Our dentists monitor children’s development and can refer for orthodontic care if clinically necessary, usually around age 11–13 when adult teeth have come in.
